I'll date myself with this one. I was sold on the "sound" when I was 8 and a new M-100 was delivered to our house. Even more sold when the M-100 was traded in about 2-3 years later for an E-100. Those are what I learned on and grew up playing. The first Hammond recordings I heard? My folks listened to Lenny Dee! But in keeping with the content of others' posts, I'll say that Jon Lord was my god for a few critical years; I learned how to play rock organ listening to him, starting with learning everything he played on "Shades of Deep Purple". My next epiphany came with Lee Michaels. For sheer balls, the sound of his Hammond on that 3rd album remains the high water mark for me. Gregg Rolie on the early Santana recordings got a lot of my listening time too. Then I discovered Jimmy Smith. As far as "early influences" are concerned, that about covers it.
