I purchased a CX3 in the summer of '01, so I've had it for about a year and
a half. I loved it when I got it, used it with my Yamaha S80 and was very
happy about the sound.

OTH the bulk and weight got progressively more annoying. I found a stop-gap
solution in purchasing an S30, the lighter version of the S80, so I cut my
hauling down by 45 lbs. But the CX3 in a Kaces case (w/wheels) is still a
little more than 50 lbs.

So when I purchased my Electro 73 (from Tony at BT Productions, great guy!)
I figured I'd try replacing the CX3 *only* and the extra sounds were gravy.
There are things I'll miss about the CX3 - the layout is much more
intuitive, real drawbars and the wheel brake emulation - but what I really
like about the Electro:

1) Sound is less brittle and harsh - this has been discussed a lot. The new
CX3 has a "mellow" option, but I haven't heard it and upgrading my own CX3
still appears to be discouraged heavily by Korg.

2) Keyboard is much more "realistic" for me - there's a little bit of
resistance whereas the CX3 could play if I looked a key intently enough.
Well, not really, but the difference feels good and there's no "clack" as I
found on the CX3...

3) Same keyboard works very well for the piano sounds - surprisingly
responsive to dynamic playing.

4) The FX can be applied to the organ sounds - ring mod on organ is cool, as
is wah-wah.

5) It's half the weight of the CX3 and in the Electro gig bag, it's half the
height, 6" less deep and a WHOLE lot easier to carry and fit in the trunk.
In fact, it feels like I'm carrying a bass or a Les Paul in that case.

6) And this is the gravy - the sampled piano sounds are excellent.

So after the first playing w/the S30 and the Electro, I decided to cut back
to a single keyboard and make my life a whole lot simpler. So I'm now
selling my S30 and the CX3.

I suspect a rack version of your Kurzweil will be easier/lighter/smaller to
haul, so my vote's (obviously) in that direction, based on my own
experience.
