There are a lot of accessories for that stand. I
actually have 3 of the ws550s, one at my rehearsal
spot as a standalone unit, one at home for
practicing/recording as a 2 tier, and the 2 tier I
take to gigs. It's been a while, and quicklok.com 's
site is kind of hosed up right now, but if I remember
right, the accessories you need are a WS561 vertical
bar (which connects two of the legs at the top via 4
threaded hand bolts...very easy and safe and sturdy)
and then a pair of QL636s (s for short, and the longer
ones are called QL636....in either case you'll need a
pair). Those also attach with a pair of threaded hand
bolts, but once they're on, you can leave them on. I
just adjust mine back to the center of the bar after
the gig and then retighten (they have huge plastic
discs about the size of an SOS pad that you turn; I
have NEVER broken one in more than 7 years yet). Then
I take that whole bar and insert it in the center of
the 550 stand when its in its T-shape, and then use a
bungee cord to keep it together (not to tight, just
snug...easy to hurt yourself with a bungee cord). It
tears down quick, stores easy...and honestly, it takes
up the least amount of real estate of ANY stand I've
ever owned. I just set up my Apex the other night at
a gig, and I couldn't believe how much more space it
took up on stage.

Anyway, that should get you what you need. Just check
with your vendor to make sure I have the right item
numbers...I'm pretty sure I'm right, but just check.
