Subject:RE: Real Piano racks?...gem and k'weil
I tried the new Kurzweil PC2r and in a live situation it didn't cut it. I
ended up basically giving it away on EBay. In a live band situation I've
found that the GEM, Yamaha, & Korg pianos hold up the best when you need to
bust through a wall of loud vocals, tube amped guitar slingers, & Bam-Bam on
the drums. Rick Wakeman & Keith Emerson both have used the GEM stuff for a
while. Chuck Levell plays a Yamaha P200 with the Stones, and the guy with
the Black Crowes I believe still uses an SGX-1D as did Darryl Hall. You can
pick up the Korg SG-Rack for around the same price as the GEM. The Yamaha
P-50m sells for about $100 on Ebay and is more common. The only problem it
has is a weak output but it really cuts through. Sorry for the OT...
Peace...
