Subject:Re: A Basic Softsynth question

Jim:

The short answer to your question is that yes, you can have multiple
instruments loaded and playable either individually or concurrently
(different MIDI channels for different instruments).

For a run-down of VST (Virtual Studio Technology), check out this
link:

http://www.steinberg.net/en/ps/community/world_of_vst/technology/

Steinberg's V-STACK will allow you to have up to 16 different
instruments loaded and playable simultaneously (depending on system
capabilities, of course) as a standalone "virtual rack". Info on the
V-STACK can be found at:

http://www.steinberg.net/en/ps/products/music_production/v-stack/

(note that the links above are not meant to suggest that Steinberg's
VST is the only solution, merely an example. My bass player has
trained me to say this as he's a Cakewalk user )
