Do you think XP would be too much overhead on the newest fastest Dell laptops?

I'm planning on getting as much memory as I can for multiple memory hungry soft synths in the recording (not live performance) arena.

By the way, Steinberg just introduced V-Pack or something like that which, in addition to being part of their VLink system, is a 16 softsynth live performance stand alone module--just VSTs, effects, no sequencer.
