Well, I have an Electro which covers the piano (electric AND
acoustic) and organ sounds extremely well. I hesitated buying one at
full price as I thought it was overpriced but when one came up
secondhand I bought it straight away. Now after having used it live
many times I wouldn't hesitate to buy one at full retail price as I
have realised it is definitely worth every penny :)

Anyway I also wanted some analog tones, and like you I wanted to keep
the size of the rig to a minimum. Obviously a rack VA would be best
but unfortunately the Electro does not make a good controller mainly
because it lacks pitch and mod wheels which are essential to any
analog synth.

So I looked around and decided on a matching red Nord Lead 2. It's
nice having an extra keyboard for the lead sounds instead of
switching programs on a controller board and the NL2 is a very
compact and fairly light board. You can also midi it to the Electro
and use it to play the lower manual on the Electro organ. The NL2 is
a very fine VA and is able to really cut through a live band mix.
The price has also come down during the last year.
