Electronic signals do experience small delays traveling thru wires, but
we're talking nanoseconds here (a nanosecond is a billionth of a second). A
15-foot MIDI cable may cause a delay in the 30 nsec range (I seem to recall
the delay is on the order of 2 nsec per foot), which is maybe a millionth of
what your ear can detect. These delays are only noticable when the
distances are measured in hundreds of miles.
