Subject:Differences between CX-3 and Electro keyboard actions

Jon,

My CX3 was a v1 and I never played the v2 that had the true waterfall keys
(though I heard it was the same action with different shaped keys?). Maybe
it would make sense for the Electro 61 and the Korg to share Fatar actions,
but the Electro 73 is another ball of wax with its longer keyboard. I'm
starting to get lost in this logic about sourcing all these different
keyboards with the same action, if you say that the v1 and v2 Korgs have
such a marked difference...does that mean that Fatar has sourced Korg with 2
completely different actions for the same instrument? If so, then it surely
wouldn't surprise me that they source Clavia with their own action. I did
hear a rumor that the Electros have the same action as that on the Fatar
Studiologic 1176 controller (minus 3 keys for the 73, minus 15 for the 61).
I have not played a Fatar 1176, but read reviews that the action is quite
different than other comparable 76-key actions. I wonder what action the
new Roland VR760 will have???

I stopped by a local music store on the way home from work and they have
recently become a Korg dealer. The owner of the store, a good friend of
mine, was gushing about all the Tritons they had (been there, done that is
what I was thinking)...they had a CX3 on the floor (v1) and I played it
again just for kicks and my viewpoint still stands that its action is quite
different than the Electro keyboard. I know we have some other users that
have owned and/or played both (Dan S comes to mind among others). Can
another user provide their $.02 on the differences between Nord and Korg
keyboard actions?

OT, I checked out the MicroKorg synth and had a lot of fun playing it. It
is a fun little toy that could actually serve a good role in a pro rig, as
long as you can navigate the tiny keys (or just MIDI up to another
keyboard).
