Subject:Re: Hammond Chopper Project
Yes your spot on, i guess i am in denial and i know i will have to
eventually accept the inevitable. I actually bought an M102 at the
weekend. It was very reasonably priced and has a decent condition
Leslie 760 with it (which was worth the collective fee on it's own!)
That's the main reason i bought it, as i dont want to gig my 145,
it's condition is too good and it just seems a shame to knock it
about.
I have to confess, on inital hearing, my CX3 probably has the edge in
terms of the sound, don't know yet as i have not had much time with
the M102. The M102 is certainly heavy, even chopped it's never ever
going to be a one man operation, but i wont be moving it around, it's
going into a semi-permanant spot in my bands rehearsal studio. But it
really does look cool (if that's important? )and it's nice to have
the 2 manuals right there without MIDI'ing a second board. It's
useless for LH bass but it should be well suited to the kind of stuff
we're playing, Booker T, Graham Bond etc. etc. I wont be selling the
CX3 though, that's still going to be my main gig board as most of the
places i play wouldn't even have room for the 'M' on the stage.
Good luck with the A100, i'd be interested to see how a chop project
on that comes out.
