Subject:Re: Hammond Chopper Project
Dave:
Yep i've been thinking about one of those Keybd Exchange chops for a
long time. Downside is :
1) Single manual isn't going to save much weight, 50/60 lbs or so but
it's still gonna weigh 150lbs+
They claim 115 lbs, and the organ IS the anvil type (many say ugly) case, so that is actual lifting weight. More like the weight of a gigging Kurweil 2600X monster in an SKB case!
The b3, a100 type manuals ARE around 100+ lbs each. It is the M2, m100s that are in the 50-60 lbs range.
2) It's Single manual !!
Fine for many in a band setting. And it is a vintage Hammond manual; no clone has even gotten close to the playability of the real manual.
3) They're like $4000+
This is what stops me. Especially, since these are really earlier Hammond models with trek VC added. I just don't believe these guys are selling many at that price.
better off buying a wrecked organ and have the 'local' organ chop man
do his thing. I'm currently thinking about getting an M100 and
splitting it but it will always be a 2 man job to haul it from what i
can understand.
Maybe not...You guys are gonna laugh, but look at this...

Rated at 500 lbs--put your chopper on casters and roll her up. Remove dog first!
