Well, Hammond/Suzuki could apparently care less about what we think, so
good riddance to them (j/k). As a somewhat frequent bad boy who goes out
on tangents, I feel that we do need to focus back on what we are here
for. But the list is like the tide, it ebbs and flows around topics.

Hey Guys,

Can we tone down the OT posts, please?

I like most, if not all, the bands mentioned here lately, but this isn't
really a "classic bands of the 60's, 70's, and 80's" forum -- it's a
Hammond clone forum. Discussing Greg Allman's playing style and tone is
one thing, but whether the Tubes or Alice Cooper are "musicians" or
"entertainers," and whether the Allman Brothers were better with or
without Dickey Betts is way off track. There are already lists to
discuss these kinds of threads; does the world really need another one?

It wouldn't be so bad if there were only 10-15 posts a day from the
group. Today, though, we have over 600 members, and most days I see
50-100 posts. We had 1227 posts in January -- that's an average of
about 40/day for those who are keeping track -- and over 300 already
this month! That's a lot of sorting to do if you're not interested in
the OT threads.

An interesting note: We had over 700 members as of 1/15, but as of this
morning, we have dropped off to ~630. A trend, perhaps, as the level of
email rises? Now, some of you may say, "That's fine. I'll take quality
over quantity," but some of the most likely people to drop off because
of the pace are manufacturers' reps, dealers, and pro musicians. I, for
one, think that the list benefits from these kinds of members. Don't
you?

Regards,

-BW
