Personally, I believe that the '71 ABB was at its
peak. In '69 and '70 they were still pretty rough
around the edges, and then once they lost Duane things
were just never the same. I feel that that album not
only shows their musicianship, but it shows how tight
they were, not sludgy or bombastic as some of the
later versions were.

FWIW, they will be releasing a new studio album in a
couple months - the first one since '94.

I also liked their lineup in '97, which featured Jack
Pearson. With Jack on slide and Oteil Burbridge on
bass, the band was as close to the '71 sound as
they've ever been.
