That is truly a frightening thought. I've seen the
Allman Bros probably about 10 times in the last 10
years. And they all sounded different from each
other. I liked the Haynes/Woody band (and actually
have performed with Mark Quinones), but actually liked
the Derek Trucks/Oteil band better, although Dicky had
some serious problems (saw them 2 shows in New
Orleans, and he was so inebriated that he actually
caused not one, but TWO serious trainwrecks that the
most casual music fan would have noticed...he was
fired 2 weeks later, then arrested a few months after
that for beating his wife while she drove on an
interstate: needless to say, he was very drunk). But
to me, the HOTTEST version of the band is the current:
Warren Haynes/Derek Trucks (you need to see this kid
to believe it, he gives Warren a REAL SERIOUS workout)
Oteil Burbidge band. If you haven't cared to see the
Allmans, I'm askin you to see them when they tour this
summer: they have a new record coming out featuring
the present line-up, and I think you will be very
surprised.

PS...when I say the hottest, I mean of the versions of
the band I've seen in the last 10/12 years, not the
Duane band, which I never saw.
