AK describes how he would wait for Dylan to play the chords on the first
beat and then play the organ part on the second so he knew where the
song was going. That is why there is that delay.... with the organ
answering the parts. he also described how lucky he was that the organ
was already turned on as he had no idea how to start a Hammond. His
organ playing on that song is actually very good IMHO.....

Remember, when Al played on Dylans "rolling stone", he
was a guitarist who'd never touched a keyboard. But
his friend/mentor Paul Butterfield was already playing
guitar, and there just happened to be an empty seat at
the Hammond. He got lucky on that one...more or less.
It would obviously take him a while to get good.
