Subject:Re: Clone quiz comments

Here are some of the more interesting responses in the quiz . . .

-- In all clips, digital leslie simulations were used: the Spin II,
the CX3, and the B4. For each of these, at least one clonewheeler
thought the sim was actually a real leslie. The Spin II was called
real once, the CX3 six times, and the B4 three times.

-- The CX3s leslie sim was rated the best by 1 or 2 people.

-- One person guessed that clip #4, the B4 with a little digital
overdrive, was a real Hammond. Another person thought that clip #5,
the CX3 with overdrive, could be a real Hammond.

-- Some people called a clone "shrill" or "cheesy" or "thin": CX3
was described this way four times, and the B4 once.

-- The word "woody" was used just once, to describe the B4.

-- Three people thought that #4, the B4 with a little digital
overdrive, was the best of all the clips. None of the other clips
was described as the best.

-- The V5 was rated as the "thickest" sound by one person.

-- One person really liked the digital overdrive on #5, the CX3, and
thought it might be a Speakeasy preamp.

-- Two people complained about the nonexistent leakage in #1, the V5
clip. This may have actually been the noise in the Spin II, which
makes it sound a bit overdriven.
