Subject:Manzarek
What was he thinking..... Well, like most musicians,
he couldn't AFFORD a Hammond (remember they were
college kids). So you work with what you got. Turns
out it worked pretty good for him. THat instrument
ended up giving them a huge part of their personality.
I can remember being in high school and just thinking
"man, I hate the Doors...lousy keyboard tone, and
every song sounds like some demented funereal dirge
played over some psychotic calliope;" turns out that
that is EXACTLY what makes them so appealing to me
now.
Later on, after they had become what they'd become,
the band bought Ray a Hammond (something he'd always
wanted).
Wish I'd seen the "Doors" on the tube the other night.
Anyone know if it's viewable somewhere online?
