Yeah, and Deep Purple opened for Rod Stewart and the Faces at Pirates
World. Talk about blowing a good band off the stage....

The next year had DP as the featured band with Fleetwood Mac opening for
them (I believe)... I skipped Fleetwood Mac (I was making out with my
girlfriend as I was 16 at the time... Or maybe I was at the head shop in
the rear of the arena.. I can't seem to remember...)

Well there's an explanation: Fleetwood Mac opened for Deep Purple at
that show, so it was a double bill. And this WAS New York City, seating
was reserved, and it was Row F, Orchestra section....and besides, you're
obviously a lot older than I am. :-p Having said that, the first
concert I saw was The Band at C.W. Post College on Long Island (NY) and
the price was....yup, 4 bucks!
