Subject:Great Rock Organ Techniques

Speaking of Mark Stein, as I stated before he was a big influence on Jon
Lord and the rest of Deep Purple. One interesting technique these guys
used was something called the "windmill chop"... This was accomplished
(usually on the lower manual) by taking your left hand and whipping it
down the keyboard from right to left. using both hands you can get a
very exciting "whoop whoop whoop" sound... OK... The best examples were:

Jon Lord (on "The Painter", an INCREDIBLE live cut from Book of
Taliesin CD)
Keith Emerson (on America)

By the way, don;t try this on an Electro. That light keyboard will fly
right off its stand into the drummer's lap...
