Subject:Re: Tapping Into Leslie 860 with Hi Fi Tube Preamp?
mark-
pin #1 (brown) of the 11 pin is signal in, and pin#4 (yellow) is ground. remove the pin#1 wire from the 860 chassis connector, tap the ground from pin #4 and connect to a standard 1/4" jack mounted to the amp chassis. this will give you a passive input so to speak. you could also wire pin #1 to a chassis-mounted SPDT switch so you could use one or the other (11 pin or 1/4 " input). either way, you'll still have power on and motor control function from the VK7. there's several ways this can be done, but not being familiar w/ the VK7's output config., I'm not sure if its 1/4" signal out is bypassed when using the 11 pin output connector. I did a similar setup on my 760 using a home-brew tube preamp and it sounded great (way better than the leslie preamp which tends to negatively color the sound). Harv Olsen could probably give you the final answer on this.
hope this helps
