Subject:Re: NAMM???

I went to the NAMM website, did my homework and also see there is a visitor pass catagory. I called the phone number to inquire about getting one. I was asked if I was a dealer. Of course, I'm not and admitted I wasn't but I am an organist and a professional - I just don't sell them. It took about as long to prounounce the word "no" as it took for him to tell me "NO".
Thank you and hung up.

Oh well. I don't wish to crash anyone's party. I just thought it is only 15 miles from me and I'm interested in new products. I guess it's a private (invitation only) party.

However, NAMM management does go to a fair amount of trouble to keep out the
public. If one is not part of the sales/distribution end of the music
business, then some common sense is required.

Companies are there to do business, don't interfere with the process. In
spite of the "trade only" policy, most exhibitors are quite tolerant of
"walk-ins." However, don't be a PITA at busy displays. Don't ask a bunch of end user,
retail customer type of questions when reps are tied up. Be polite--keep in
mind that you crashed their party, not the other way around. There's no
reason why anyone should have a problem unless they create it.

NAMM is a lot of fun! It's the biggest music show held in the US. There are
always lots of great after-hours shows. You get to see all the new products
at the same time the dealers and trade publications see them. Enjoy the show!
