It's a candy store for sure. What I found at the last two winter
one's. (politeness and common sense applied as always)
1- The booths were generally glad to show off their wares to anyone
interested, especially their newest stuff. (It ain't all new, maybe a different
color this year)
2- Welcomed hands on that generally lured the crowd towards them with
the sound. More than one commented that it was nice to talk to someone without
having to sweat the big sale pressure.
3- The dealers can immediately see from your badge if your a "Buyer"
or a "Visitor." They're big boys and will tell you if you're a, "PITA." Usually
more like, "Excuse me, but it looks like I got a buying customer." Isn't a
civilized world nice?
4- Some openly welcomed, "end user" questions and comments about their
gear. Makes sense to me since a lot of us together ultimately pay their rent.
All in all it's a blast and an opportunity for companies to strut
their stuff, make some bucks, and get maybe next years ideas by slumming it with
us end users. Only ran into courtesy problems at one booth in my two
visits....but that's a whole other saga... Right Harvey? OHF Bob
