Thanks for bringing up Jerry Corbetta and Sugarloaf. I recorded at Colorado Sound Studio in Denver in the 80's and the B-3 in house was the "Green Eyed Lady Hammond" that Jerry Corbetta had sold to them. I just recorded some pad type parts and never really got to rock with it. Anyway, young cloners; "Green Eyed Lady" was probably the best B-3 Top 40 song ever done. The BIG 3rd Percussion with mass reverb intro into the verses which slowly built up to the breakdown with the big spooky diminished chord and then the organ solo. Great stuff to check out as far as cool dynamics and just juggling the tones around. Someone brought up 'Out In The Country ' by Three Dog Night with the changing Leslie speeds. Another great example. Third great classic rock example is 'Fly Like an Eagle' by The Steve Miller Band. Constantly working the drawbars and Leslie speeds and C-3. settings. I never had anyone to ask as far as drawbar settings on 'Footstompin Music' or any Santana stuff so you young guys just go for the feel and don't feel intimidated by all these guys going back and forth on this piece of gear or another. Trust your gut feeling and what feels good and sounds good to you. It is so cool to have a forum like this but it can add to your confusion as well. And be thankful you can get a keyboard like an Electro or V-Combo or CX-3 that will do so much for under $2000. I payed $1685.00 for just my Minimoog in 1973. Ouch! Plus the Hammond/Leslie and the Rhodes and the band wants me to by an ARP String Ensemble!!!!!!!!!!!! Another $1800 just for string sounds!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Holidays!!
