Subject:Bass on keys....

Hi,
Disregarding the classic Hammond left hand bass, what are those of us who
play bass on keys using these days? I've tried a few things, but have yet to
come across a keyboard sound that truly represents even a decent Fender
Precision Bass played with the fingers. The bass guitar is a very dynamic and subtle
instrument that can really punch through a mix without you even noticing it's
there (until of course the bassist stops playing)! then the funk just dies and
you have no bass line and lose the fullness that line brought to the song. Can
a really satisfying bass sound for the average song be found on a keyboard?
Any idea which is best? I still need to hear this "Motif" thing. Is that the
bomb for bass?
