I know exactly what your saying. Back in, "The Day" (' 68 -' 72) my
tech, Sam, made me a variable speed control for my 31H/C3. (Yeah, those were
the
days when guys were knocking each other over to be a roadie.) Not sure how
the thing worked tech-wise but I could go from stopped to fast and anything
in
between using a pedal he took from my Farfisa. Could get some unique sounds
I'll tell you what. Closest description I could use is that it breathed. The
in
between speeds and the control I had ramping up and down were to die for. >>

man i always wanted a mod like that... i once saw jerry (corbetta from
sugarloaf) play in Omaha at the Aquarius lounge and i thought he was using something
like that. turned out the guy's leslie was just broke and he wasn't too
accomodating when asked....must've had a bad day being cool and famous... was the
farfisa pedal placed inline with the switch(half-moon or otherwise?) seems like
that would be the logical thing to do as the switch carries the 120 volts to
control the motors. isn't the 31H sitting in your basement corner when i was
there last spring? i hear you on the days gone by where the interest was so
heightened to create rather than sluff off and go for the obvious $$$. sure wish
you could get an inkling of what it was Sam did for that vari
speed....geniuses..where are they when you need them????
