Subject:Electro & CX3 manual comfort & drawbars

I have given a lot of thought lately to selling my CX3, since I'm
playing mainly with the Elecro 73. Nord's B3 and Leslie simulation is
right on - in its own way - no tweaks available, but the unique
console and cabinet the Swedes scoped and modeled their clone on are
captured near-perfect in the Electro.

But every time I'm just about ready to sell my CX3, like today's the
day it goes on the block; I sit down and play it. The comfortable
feel of the keys, the smooth drawbar action, the slightly rounded yet
enclosed with you feel to the console case - it truly is in the same
psychological category as the automobile steering wheel comparison,
that feels so natural and comfortable to drive.

I've gotten quite used to and comfortable with the Electro but in a
different way. When I press the drawbar buttons etc, it's a very
nice feeling of control. Everything is exact and according to the
lighted controls I set - which I do need to see. However, I'm a big
guy, 6'2" and 250 lbs, and sitting down to the Electro's little red
wafer alone has never felt right. I have to play with it sitting
above or on a 2nd keyboard, something more substantial - although I
would just as soon play it by itself much of the time, with a piano
module gaff-tape/velcroed on it to round out its acoustic piano.

The CX3, I could quickly learn to play without looking, and is (since
I can't remember exactly any more) very much the same feel as sitting
at a Hammond manual, like sitting down to a Steinway. Playing the
CX3 is so familiar and comfortable, it reminds me of ...woops, never
mind. What's a cloner to do? And I still won't sell my V5!

The one thing all the clones have in common is they could all use a
Leslie. A long time ago in a parallel music universe, I went through
a phase where I swore I wouldn't carry another full-size organ
again. I recall I could connect ANY combo organ to my Leslie with
the 1/4 inch phone jack I did myself and it sounded great - Vox,
Lowrey, Farfisa. It was the Leslie that made the sound everyone
wanted to hear. I only had to play okay, know some tricks/riffs - it
was fun playing standing up.
