An odd thing I have found with Roland VK8/VR760 is that the mono output is weak and the leslie sim from the mono output is dreadful. However... if you take the right output only as the mono signal the leslie sim is much better, go figure!

Into a Leslie ONLY (or Hammond tone cabinet & jazz), I agree. I've
been a Roland gear nut for years, until V5, MS amps, etc. But when I
A/B'd the VK8 and CX3 at GC in stereo w/two Roland KC-500's, they
were both so good I couldn't make up my mind. I turned one of the
amps off and left each keyboard's mono output connected to a channel
on the single KC-500: VK8 mono Leslie simulation sounded like a
kiddie toy. CX3 Leslie simulation took off like a flying saucer,
made my decision then.

But VK8 into a Leslie? It'd sound fantastic, with a foot control so
you wouldn't have to keep waving your hand like a magic wand over the
red photo-beam.
