the VK8 is as hammond sounding as you can get on the latest boards out there
and runs a real leslie. plus it has real drawbars and waterfall keys. got to
have them drawbars! it seems everyone has his or her ideas of what a real
hammond sounds like and i venture to say that most of the younger gen don't really
know simply bec the B3 may not be accessable to them as it was years ago and
much of the music today does not feature a B3 as a mainstay. there's something
to be said about weilding a B3 (a good sounding one i.e.,) night after night,
gig after gig and not just listen to records and cds of your fave hammond
guy/gal.. not that clonewheelers are not "hammond" guys/gals, mutation has set in
with what a hammond sound is but be that as it may, the real thing...is the
real thing and will be as sought after as a Stradavarius and the Grail and
always used on serious recordings. Having said that, to my ears the Roland
boards/modules seem to have it closest in the mass marketed bracket...but that's just
me..
