Hi Jake
I've had two E-30's at different times. They were the amongst the first digital organs that Yamaha produced and were a great instrument for their time. In Australia they were priced around $4000 new. That was when the Yamaha sound 'grew up' in my book. It had an Auto-Arpeggio thing on the lower manual which could be used to give a great alternating mallet marimba too. $189, what a bargain.

Subject: [CWSG] Yamaha Electone E-30
Dear List -
I like to browse the Goodwill and Salvation Army
stores looking for old lp's, tools, etc. A couple
months ago I found a piece of American Tourister
luggage the perfect size for my pedals and cords.
Today I was looking for tube amps. Didn't find any,
but I did see a Yamaha Electone E-30 organ with full
pedals and bench for $189. I'd never seen one before
and don't know anything about this organ, but I fired
it up and it played. Sounded real nice too! Has
"draw-levers" (my own word) instead of sliders,
portamento and an arpeggiator and some kind of knee
bar underneath. Hmmm...interesting. There were two
half-moon Leslie switches on the front but no Leslie
cab. They didn't seem to have any effect on the
internal speakers and I don't know what's behind that
grill cloth. I put a bossa beat on the little built-in
drum machine and started playing "Why Can't We Live
Together." The workers and some shoppers were happy to
have some music in the shop. I was tempted to drag the
beast home with me. For $189. maybe I should have.
Best regards,
Jake
