Subject: Wall warts

Make a note of the Volts, Milliamps, Plug Size, and
Polarity of any "wall wart" external power supplies
you use. Write it on a slip of paper and carry it in
your wallet. Next time you're near a Goodwill store,
Salvation Army store, or any second hand junk shop go
in and browse around. You will usually find an entire
bin full of these for around 50 cents a piece! Now you
can have a back-up power supply without shelling out
the big bucks.

You will also find, usually in the same bin or nearby,
a collection of standard power cords for your pieces
that carry internal power supplies.

Remember to check 'em out when you get home and make
sure they work. In most cases they work just fine.
These things can last many years with normal use. And
if you happen get a DOA you're only out 50 cents. Call
it a donation to charity!

Best regards,
Uncle Jakey
