Dan,
Chuck Surak might very well be the Real Thing, but he faces that age
old dillemma of hiring like-minded employees.
Even then, my initial sales "engineer" seemed informed and eager, and
I spent much money until I was handed off to an "associate" (possibly
only a 2 year degree? ;-). Soon, no one would answer or return phone
calls. The "associate" seesawed between bad info and lying. The
"engineer" was simply unavailable over the phone and when I'd e'mail,
would return mail NOT with an answer, but with a "call me". "Call
me" ??!? AARGH!!
I'm apparently on their mailing list -- as I get all kinds of promos,
catalogs, and cards -- and they've even sent letters soliciting
interest in "becoming a Sweetwater Sales Engineer" which I'm sure
everyone gets, too. I almost bit the bait thinking "hey, if you can
make a living like this guy does doing it *poorly*, then surely I
could make a great living do it *well*" but opted for legitimate
engineering instead.
Anyway, best of luck for all who deal with them and I hope your
relationship is strong and productive, it just probably won't be me.
