Subject:Re: Pro-3TM or a Speakeasy

I have no experience with MS products, but I'm currently very happy
running my CX-3 (V2)- Speakeasy Classic - JBL Eon G2 15 rig. IMHO,
the Speakeasy helps bring out the complex nuances that make a
classic tonewheel sound, and helps tame the shrillness of most
clones.

Would also strongly recommend updating to version 2 of the CX-3
software, which adds some functionality, including an option
for "mellow" drawbars, and an improved Leslie sim. Since some
members have reported frying their boards during the upgrade, you
may want a service center to do the job.

Also, try the Cx-3 and Speakeasy settings that David Jacques has
posted -- each designed to simulate one of the B3s he owns. I
especially like the '63 B3 that he describes as his "stage" organ.

Finally, if you buy the Speakeasy, skip the Barker option. Adding
heavy distortion after the Leslie sim makes for some nasty sounds.
Better to use the Speakeasy to bring out the best tones of the
organ, and use some of the Cx-3's digital distortion to taste.

If you've been following this list for a while, you'll find that MS
products attract the usual mix of reviews that most products get,
but it's hard to find anyone who's not enthusiastic about the
Speakeasy.
