Subject:Re: CX-3 (on the verge of pulling the trigger)
To summarize:
Drawbars 1 & 2 are always live. Drawbars never alter upper or lower
presets. HOWEVER, You can quickly (2-3 seconds) CHANGE the drawbar
settings of the upper/lower drawbar presets by making the desired
setting on either drawbars 1 or two, and then, while holding down that
drawbar select button, select the preset button, then release both.
If you go to another program then come back, the preset will resort to
where it first was UNLESS you first save the new drawbar setting
permantly to the preset by write/saving the program. i.e.:
Assume, for illustration, A-4's upper preset = 888000000
next manipulate, say drawbars 1 to show 888862268
next hold down drawbar 1 select for the upper manual, then the upper
preset button at the same time. Then release both buttons. You upper
drawbar preset will now be at 888862268.
If you write/save the program (i.e. A-4), that's what you'll get next
time you go to A-4. If instead you go to another program without
write/saving it first, A-4's upper drawbar preset would be at
888000000 next time you go to A-4.
I think the setup kicks butt. I use the drawbars 1 & 2 most of the
time, and frequently punch in an alternate registration preset going
into a song where I will quickly need to call it up. Very handy.
BTW, there is a global setting I use where your primary controlls
(drawbar select, c/v, percussion, & Leslie speed) do not change when
you change programs. That way, you basically change your organ and
leslie setup, but not speeds, drawbars, c/v, percussion.
The Korg interface, to me, is very user freindly, logical, and
customizable to your preferences, after the intial learning curve.
Enjoy the CX3!
