I have an SL-880 and got it for the weighted hammer 88 key controller in my
studio. It works fine for me and have had it 5 years. Perhaps for gigging and
rough use it may not hold up as I've never used it for live but any keyboard
should be moved around in a sturdy case. What I like about the 880 is that is
has synth controller wheels. I a/b'd two 880's before I decided on my purchase
and bought it new for around $700. For the price it was an ok buy and it reacts
well with synth touch sensitivity. I use mine with Motif and Kurzweil
modules. Have tried it for organ but as expected the piano keys don't lend itself for
organ type playing. But if you're willing to play around with the downsides
of playing organ on this type of controller just to save on equipment ownership
and drayage you can make it work for you. If it speaks for you then go for
it. It may not be Ben Grimm proof but then again, are you Ben Grimm?
