Subject:Re: Hammond X2

Hi Carl,

I've got the X5 version, which i gig regularly. Your right it doesnt
sound like an L or M spinet, but i think that the X5 feels more like
a Hammond than any current clone on the market (excluding the new B3
if you want to class that as a clone - personally i dont)

A lot of this Hammond 'feel' comes from those 9 contacts. My CX3
sounds more like a B3 but it doesn't play like one. The X5 and indeed
the X2 can sound better with a tube preamp. I use a DBX mini pre into
a Speakeasy Classic, bypassing the internal transistor pre amp. This
really warms up the tone and gets the organ a lot closer to the tone
of an M model.
