I dont think that the lack of cloth would make much difference to the
sound, unless you are close MIC'ing the Leslie. I guess without the
cloth you'll pick up more wind noise from the horn. Not a big deal
though. I think the purpose of the cloth is to keep dust etc. out of
the cabinet. btw. the 860 is a great Leslie. Don't be concerned by
the lack of a valve amp, stick a tube preamp between your organ and
the Leslie and she'll scream like a banshee. Very loud as well as
being just about portable. I've got an 860 and a 145 and the main
difference in tone is in the bass. The 860 only has a 12 inch bass
speaker so it cannot reproduce those low pedal tones like a 145/122
could, but if your not a bass kicker and espcially if you play spinet
style LH organ, the 860 will do the job very nicely.
