Subject:Bizarre incident
I got a pair of JBL EON 15's (powered but not G2s) Friday. I like
them a lot so far. But when I first brought them home, I wrestled
with a very strange situation for about 15 minutes. For clone I use
primarily a EVB3 controlled with a CX3, and I also use the CX3
generator. When I first started the EVB3 to hear how the JBLs sound,
I not only heard the subtleties very well, I heard too many overtones.
It was like I thought wow, maybe the JBL's are extra sensitive to the
EVB3's overtones and leakage. I set those controls to zero. Hmm,
maybe some of the drawbars are pulled out some, even though the screen
indicted I had only 888000000. I pulled each drawbar out and then
back in. Hmm, am I on the B preset ... yes. This is weird, and more
important, its not right. Listen .. when I push a key, I get some of
these upper drawbar tones, and then the 888000000. Interesting, kinda
like a real Hammond with the multi-contact, only it's a two contact
system. The EVB3, by the way only triggers at the bottom of the key.
Why would it double trigger all of the sudden, just because of the
JBLs? DUH, I still had the volume on the Korg at around 7 or 8
o'clock, and the upper drawbar select was on drawbar 1, with just a
couple of middle and upper registers pulled out slightly, whereas I
control the EVB3's upper drawbars with the Korg's drawbars 2! Had me
going for a while! Sometimes this dog just don't hunt!
By the way, anyone interested in a Traynor YBA3 Custom Special bass
amp or Sunn 18 in. reverse reflex cabinet, mine are on Ebay until
Monday evening.

Doug
