I think you're right - and a project box might be better than adapter
cables. I tried this once with a V5 using an EV-5 pedal - which is
like what Ken Hall describes, a potentiometer or 'pot' wired to the
three conductors in the cable. It worked just fine with a stereo
adapter 'Y' for the pedal and two mono cables, V5 in one side and out
to a leslie sim from the other, worked just like a typical volume
pedal.
