Don't give up on the XK-2. It does have a lesser sounding Leslie sim
than Korg, but there is hope. First, using the manual you can change
the Leslie parameters. For the angle of the mics, I use 90 and 180
degrees. 90 is a little compressed and woody. 180 is more open and
airy. You can also change the distance of the mics. I have narrowed
my Leslie settings to 4 favorites and those are my only presets I use
playing out.

I used to run through a Korg G4. It has an awesome tone - very woody
and rich. The only drawback seemed to be that it would overdrive
easy and I had to loose some tone to keep the volume.

Along came my discovery of this site and then the Speakeasy. The
Speakeasy is definitely the key. Here's the deal:

The XK2 sounds best with the exterior bass control on full and the
treble pretty close to full. The Speakeasy sounds best to me with
the bass on 3/4, the treble almost at 3/4 and the volume up. The
problem though is that this produces too much bass at high volume.
So insert a simple mixer in between and viola - tremendous tone. I
put the XK-2 volume on full and use the mixer to tone down the bass
and further shape the tone. The Speakeasy likes alot of input volume
so I crank the mixer as well.

I run this into a volume pedal (best placed after the Speakeasy) and
into a Barbetta 41 with the two tens. I set the amp at flat tones
and volume (everything at 12:00).

I did my first gig with this rig last Friday and it smoked. I got
alot of compliments including the other band we were playing with.
The Speakeasy is a little pricey, but well worth turning a digital
simulation into a fire breathing, screaming tone machine.
