Subject:RE: Speakeasy with CX3 or Electro
That's correct Mark, the mixer does add significant gain to the
Speakeasy. Therefore you really do not need the Barker modification if
you use such a device.
The nice thing about the Barker is that the gain is integrated into the
preamp so you do not need a separate device. But as Bruce himself said,
using a good mixer (pre Speakeasy) will accomplish the same goal as the
Barker. This is useful for someone like me who needs a mixer to mix
multiple keyboards and modules. However, even when I play my CX3 alone
(like I will be doing for all my shows in the next two weeks), I use the
mixer for the boost...
And that is right, I run directly out of the mixer into the Speakeasy.
It all works beautifully and sounds incredible.

So, David, if I understand you correctly, you recommend putting the
Speakeasy AFTER the mixer. Why? Do you possibly use the Mackie for a
bit of boost? If so, might this eliminate the need for the Barker
option for the CX-3? Also, do you run directly out of the mixer into
the Speakeasy or via insert? Thanks.
