Subject:Speakeasy with CX3 or Electro
I know the Speakeasy and variations have been discussed at length
here, so I have no doubt they're great products with the best
customer service. However, I'm left with questions for players:
1. CX3 has a good choice of tweakable internal reverbs and levels and
several different Leslie simulations - models, amps, and pulley
sizes. I'd use the stereo outputs. Why/how would a Speakeasy (be
needed to?) improve the sound? I do play bass 'pedals' sometimes,
feet retired, left hand lower manual; otherwise, left hand piano.
Would my piano (+synth?) samples' sound be much improved if included
in some variation of a Speakeasy setup? Where in chain(s) would a
Speakeasy go with about 50:50 organ and piano?
Mixer is a reliable decade-old Mackie stereo 1202. Secondary setups,
I can get away with connecting one keyboard into a sound module's
stereo inputs, outputs->volume pedal->Sonic Maximizer->amps.
I get a significant improvement in clarity of overall speaker tone
using a small stereo BBE Sonic Maximizer as the last link before my
amps, so things sound pretty good - to my ears - already.
2. Electro sounds good enough to me 'dry' that I don't hear the need
for any boost or reverb. Maybe a subliminal message, but I read a
recent post by an Electro player who dc'd the use of added reverb etc.
I bought an Electro based on great - and specific - feedback from
y'all, so ~ what's up with Speakeasy?
Thanks, Walter J
