I don't think Bruce is lucky. This past December I had a new v.1 CX-3
that developed a bad case of 60-cycle hum. This was when the v.2
upgrade was in the process of being re-released. I was willing to
wait for Korg to put the patch back on the web site, but since I had
to take it in for service (it was under warranty), I figured why not
have the shop do the upgrade for me? I called around and only one
shop in the DC area would do the upgrade. I asked them point-blank
twice, could they do the v.2 upgrade and they said yes.

Well, this shop (who is NO LONGER an authorized Korg service center,
I am happy to say) kept my board for two weeks, then called and told
me that 1) they couldn't do the upgrade because they didn't have the
equipment to do it; and 2) they couldn't find any 60-cycle hum. I
explained that all they needed was a PC with a midi connection, and
they replied that they didn't have one. I asked them why they told
me they could do the upgrade, and they said they thought it was a
hardware upgrade (wake up, McFly!!) What really burned my butt and
got me to call my Korg rep was that they wanted to charge me for the
service call, even though it was a warranty repair!!

I called my Korg rep, explained what had transpired, who I had dealt
with and how much less than useless they had been. He agreed to meet
with me, and swap out my v.1 CX-3 for a brand new v.2 machine, which
he was going to be using for a demo unit anyway. I think that
qualifies as getting help from Korg.

This brings me to my question: I've run into a problem several times
where I will get a stuck note or notes, and nothing short of powering
off and on again will clear the problem. Here are the symptomss:
- Has happened four times in EX mode, twice in regular;
- usually playing 3- or 4-note chords;
- usually happens when glissing from left to right;
- the keys are not physically stuck, but the notes keep playing
- only the "stuck" keys play, all other notes go dead
- all other buttons appear to function, but the sound does not change
(i.e. you can turn the leslie sim on/off, change programs, go into
edit mode, and all the lights and buttons work, but the sound output
does not change --- drawbars have no effect either)
- MIDI in has no effect on the sound output; MIDI out does not trigger

Has anyone else encountered anything like this? I never had this
happen with my v.1 CX-3 (serial number 26xx); my new unit serial
number is in the 33xx range. Also, this doesn't happen often, and
I've never been able to MAKE it do this intentionally. It's only
happened 6 times in the last 6 months, so I don't think I have a bad unit.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd be happy to hear them.
