Subject:Re: Nord Electro Negatory
David,
I often gig with my Nord Electro atop my B3, so my memory isn't very faded
at all. When I AB'd my Electro in the music store with a Roland and a Korg,
I had only stereo headphones to compare them and in that situation, the
Electro sounded most realistic to me. Having said that, we all like
different things about the Hammond/Leslie sound and each clone is a
variation on the real thing. The variation you like best may not be the
variation I like best. In any case, after playing any
clone/preamp/MS/Leslie setup for a while, it's still always easy to tell
you're playing the real thing when you slide onto the bench of a B3. I
think all of the current clones are good enough to pass on stage in a band
situation, and I don't think it's possible for them to get much better.
Things like user interface, features, weight, etc. seem to be the greatest
deciding factors these days, and we certainly all have our own ideas about
those things! As someone else said, vive la difference!
