I agree with you in that respect.
I bought the Motif 8 because I liked the piano sounds and it had some
usable organ sounds. I didn't really need all the sampling and
sequencing stuff but found that it is quick and easy to sequence in
the Motif. It is not as graphically friendly as say Sonar but ok for
a quick sequence.
I would probably use the Motif more in live situations but the damn
thing weighs a ton and my goals are to get lighter not heavier
equipment. Everybody loves a B3 but nobody wants to move the darn
thing.
I nice Motif piano w/out all of the bells and whistles would be nice
but they didn't have the other "S" version out when I bought the
Motif.
I have to admit that I was a little bit swayed by seeing Guy Babylon
use one. It sounded great and I figured if it was good enough for
him it was good enough for me.
Yep, done in by fancy marketing and the good old Yamaha endorsement
that I'm sure Guy has.
Hey, so I'm a sucker for new gear! Raise your hand if there is
anyone on the list who is NOT a sucker for new gear when played by
famous people.
