Subject:RE: Yamaha gig bags
Sorry to hear about your grief. I saw their gig bag
for the P80 (obviously a less expensive keyboard) and
it was VERY impressive: Thick padding, tough gortex
exterior....pretty nice. When I got my Motif8, I
ordered the Yamaha SKBcase for it. It's just an SKB
case custom made for the Motif8, with custom foam
cuts. (The keyboard is too big to fit in SKB's 88note
case.) When we booked our overseas tour, I bought a
custom RnR case, but even though I ordered the 1/4"
case, when it came, the keyboard/case combo still
weighed 136lbs (too much to fly anymore). So, I
decided to take a chance anyway, and shipped the
MOtif8 in its Yamaha/Skb case. I called Motifator.com
and explained about the handle (Like you, my handle
fell off on the first trip, and I returned the case
and made them get me another) and my concerns about
the hardware, and they shipped me, free of charge, a
complete set of handles, side handles, latches and
locks free of charge. That case and keyboard went
through 30 airports and while scuffed and scratched,
the case more than exceeded my expecations and hopes.
The keyboard was fine, never had a lick of problems,
and has sold me on SKB type cases (although, I think
the fact that it was custom-made for the keyboard was
key in this case).
Yamaha is normally pretty good about this stuff.
Sorry to hear of your woes....
