Bob,

I have owned two pair of Barbettas in the past 12 years, so you can say I'm
a very strong proponent of these bad boys. I am convinced of a little bit
of user error/education on your part.

I find my best settings on my pair to be 3 o'clock on Master and 12 to 2
o'clock on individual channel, depending on the stage volume of the gig.
That being said, you need to start at the source of your audio and work
downstream. Every little piece of hardware in the audio flow needs to be
adjusted to produce the maximum gain with the least amount of noise. That
means starting at the output of the keyboard/module and then to whatever
else you have in line- effects pedals, mixer, equalizer etc, etc.

And the less expensive(read:cheap) hardware you have to go in and out of,
the more noise and less gain you will have. My advice is stay away from
those products!

The problem of no high end on the Barbetta is a bit strange. My high boost
is never set past one o'clock. The bass is rolled off to ten'o'clock
because my Electros' organ lows sound like crap if I don't.

It's most likely not the Barbetta's fault. Those boxes will generally give
you an excellenct reproduction of what you are putting into them.
