Ken's solution is the same as mine, and yes this is backwards from most gain
structures in other amps I use. I don't know why this is, but it would be
worth it for you to give Tony Barbetta a phone call. His designs seem to
work just a little differently than you might expect and every time I've
called him for advice he's been very helpful with how to get the most from
your amp. I've been using Barbettas for about six years; I'm now on my
third one and I will be the first to admit that they aren't without their
problems (although most of the previous dependability problem seem to have
been addressed in the most recent "SE" versions with fan-cooling). However,
once you get your hands on one that's running on all 8 cylinders I feel it's
hard to beat.
KORG CX-3 -> Speakeasy Stereo Preamp -> two Barbettas is a sonic combination
that's just killer.
