Subject:Re: Mackie SRM 450 with 2 keyboards - how to send signal to the house
Over the past several days I've been A/Bing a Mackie SRM-450 with a JBL
EON 15 G2. My predisposition was toward the JBL, but I must say the
Mackie sounds quite a bit better to me for piano (the JBL has a good
bottom but a honky midrange to my ear - and it's shape is more awkward
too). For organ the difference is not that significant to me.
Anyway, I tried the Y approach with my Electro and Yamaha S90 at a
rehearsal last night, and it did NOT work for me. Perhaps the output
impedences of those two keyboards are not close enough. Since I'm
deciding to go with the Mackie, I will have to get a mixer.
I'm leaning towards an alesis 12R, because it fits in a rack and has pre
& post fade aux sends. Pre for Electro reverb, post to go to the PA,
allowing me the option to bring in a monitor mix from the PA and not
send it back there (by not sending it to that aux). It also has channel
inserts, which I like (I expect I'll run the speakeasy on the organ
inserts). The 12R goes for $300 or a little less.
Are there any other <3U rack mixers that would do this?
