Subject:B4 distortion-AHA!

Well, this is a new one but probably has some sort of electronic
reason that I, who doesn't know jack about electrons and loads and
ohms and so on, don't have the sense to figure out.
Here's the set-up.
I control the B4 on my laptop with a BX3.
The output of the laptop is thru an Echo Indigo. Since the Echo has
1/8 female stereo outs, I use a male 1/8 to two male 1/4 monos, then
I use a Y adapter -two female monos to a single male 1/4 that goes
into the SE pedal then to the Leslie.
Today I ran out of the Echo with the 1/8 male to adapter business
into one channel of my little Mackie board. For some reason that
Mackie doesn't like two mono's running into one channel. If I unplug
one or the other of the monos everything is fine. The second I plug
the other male into the Y I get the distortion.
I guess there is some sort of cosmic mismatch that causes the
distortion. If I unplug this weird cable mess and run a set of
headphones out of the Echo's out port everything is fine.
(that's the way to listen to the B4!)
So?????
It sounds fine like this. On the SE it doesn't distort when I use
both monos into one mono 1/4. Weird?
I think so.
Chuck
