Subject:Old Yamaha Clone

Hey Clonewheelers,

I'm sitting in with my boss's cover band on Friday. Should be a fun gig
- the setlist includes a lot of favorite tunes of mine that I never get
to play with "the younger generation" - some Paul Simon, Eric Clapton,
Tom Petty, Three Dog Night, Cat Stevens, and (in what will probably be
my moment of the evening) "Love the One You're With."

Anyway, I'm currently a poor college student and, as such, have not yet
purhcased the Electro2 73 that I lovingly caress in the keyboard room at
the local music store (Norman Music Center in Norman, OK, if there are
any Oklahoma lurkers on here that have been looking for one to demo -
great shop, they also sell vintage Hammonds and Leslies whenever the
keyboard guy can hustle them up - they're also a dealer for Leslie).

Anyway, I digress. Organ sounds are a concern for me; the best I have
is the tweaked-to-death organ sounds in my Alesis QS-8, which I trigger
from an el cheapo unweighted Yamaha PSR-something. After sharing lots
of hammond and leslie stories with the guitar player (who used to own a
C3 and 122 back in the day) after the rehearsal, he mentioned that he
has an old Yamaha keyboard at home that attempts to be a clone; he said
it had "a set of drawbars on it" and a leslie connector on the back. He
said he'd be glad to bring it (I think I impressed him by being able to
play "Whiter Shade of Pale" complete with appropriate leslie changes and
counterlines).

My questions to the vast resource that is the clonewheel collective
brain:

What is this thing?
Should I tell him to bring it to the gig?
Is there anything else that would be useful to know about the synth?
Does anyone have any recordings of it?

This is my first big question to the group. Thanks in advance for your
help!
